3D Gaming

French video game company Ubisoft is heavily committed to making 3D games, and believes that the 3D technology will become mainstream in just a few years. The adoption of 3DTV will start slowly and like HDTV it will take another 3 years to be installed in everyone’s living room. Their tie up with James Cameron in December 2009 for Avatar was capable of producing 3D images when used with a compatible TV screen.

Ubisoft will continue to support 3D, since game console makers like Sony Computer Entertainment and Nintendo have improved the technology a lot. Sony recently introduced 3D stereoscopic PS 3 games, including Wipeout HD. Nintendo used the E3 conference in June to disclose the handheld 3DS system, which creates a 3D effect without the use of glasses. Ubisoft believes that the next generation of 3D gaming consoles would be available in stores in the next 2 to 3 years.
