3D Television in the Middle East

The Middle East is a strong visual oriented market as far as electronics are concerned. The immersive entertainment experience provided by the 3D TVs will surely be welcomed in this region.

The companies are confident of good sales of 3D TVs in the Middle East. The early adopters, movie lovers, gaming enthusiasts and sports fans will find the irresistible reality of 3D experience convincing enough to trigger early purchases. Following this trend, word of mouth and experiential marketing will subsequently tap into replacement markets.

Interest in 3D has increased in recent months with the release of Avatar, which smashed box-office records, and also Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. These movies have exposed millions of people to 3D, which in turn has sparked a race to market 3D TV in this region. The enthusiasm of people for 3D content will result in a strong acceptance of the technology in this region. LG Electronics is already in talks with broadcasters to provide 3D content.

The companies are expecting early adopters to embrace 3D. The hardware is bound to improve gradually as more research will be carried out. Also the availability of TV programs, movies, and games will improve and diversify each year. The Middle East region has a history of embracing new technology and 3D TV will be no different. The companies have been receiving a huge number of enquiries about the availability of 3D TVs and so they are looking forward for healthy sales when they launch 3D TVs in the second quarter of the year.

The manufacturers firmly believe that High Definition (HD) and 3D are the future technologies for television and home entertainment for a significant period of time. There won’t be much of a phase-out but the companies will definitely continue to upgrade their sets.

3D TV has always been viewed in the industry as the next big thing. Watching everything from sports, news, movies and TV shows in 3D will become a whole new experience. The in house home entertainment will also encourage a new generation of TV upgrades. Broadcasters will play a major role in determining the rate of uptake and adoption of 3D. There is indeed no doubt that the 3D technology will become the new standard for home entertainment in the Middle East.
