3D TV Content and Formats
It’s often the case that new technology finds itself in a chicken and egg puzzle. Consumers do not buy new equipment unless the content is available and the media companies do not produce content until the consumers are willing to buy the equipment. But Samsung has already got TVs in the market that convert 2D signals into 3D. This simply means that consumers now can enjoy viewing 3D in real time even with the little 3D content available.
It was not long ago when the deployment of a TV technology was put on hold for years, while movie studios and electronic makers supported rival formats for dominance. The 3D technology does not present any prospect of a format war like the ones with the high definition video or the VHS and Betamax stride before. Consumers do not need to be upset about wrong equipment, as the HDMI cables that connect set-top boxes to televisions or other screens can detect and support several different standards.
